Booking & participation
Terms & Conditions
The business side of booking a trip. Straightforward, no surprises.
Last updated: April 20, 2026
Section 1
Deposits & payment.
A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking to confirm your reservation. The remainder is due 90 days prior to your arrival.
All deposits and final payments are non-refundable. We recommend purchasing travel insurance (see Section 3) to protect your investment against unexpected circumstances.
Please contact us for pricing on additional helicopter days and destinations. Prices are subject to change until a deposit is received and the booking is confirmed.
Section 2
Cancellations & transfers.
Because our season is short and spots are limited, cancellations affect us and other anglers waiting on availability. As stated in Section 1, deposits and final payments are non-refundable.
We will work with you in good faith to transfer your reservation to another guest you designate, subject to our confirmation. Trip transfers to a later date are considered on a case-by-case basis and are not guaranteed.
Please provide written notice of any cancellation or transfer request by email as early as possible.
Section 3
Travel insurance.
We strongly recommend that every guest purchase third-party travel insurance that covers trip cancellation, trip interruption, medical emergencies, and emergency evacuation.
This is separate from our Ironclad Steelhead Insurance, which is our guarantee that weather won't shut down the fishing. Travel insurance protects you against broader risks (illness, airline disruptions, emergencies at home) that we cannot control.
Section 4
Weather & conditions.
We fish in all but the most extreme weather. Alaska autumn conditions are variable, and dress and gear are your responsibility (see our gear list).
The decision to move, alter, or cancel a day of fishing is at our guides' discretion based on guest safety, river conditions, and other factors. Schedule changes made for safety do not qualify as cancellations and are not refundable.
Section 5
Changes to itinerary.
Which river we fish on a given day — and the order we fish them — depends on water levels, fish counts, pressure, and guest ability. Your guide will plan each day to give you the best shot at fish.
We reserve the right to substitute equivalent rivers, boats, or guides as needed. We will not reduce the total number of guided days you have paid for.
Section 6
Assumption of risk.
Fly fishing, wading, boating, and helicopter transport involve inherent risks — including but not limited to slips and falls, cold-water exposure, injury from hooks and casting, hypothermia, drowning, and wildlife encounters.
By booking with Alaska Steelhead Co., you acknowledge that you are physically capable of participating in the activities, and you assume the risks associated with them. Our guides will brief you on safety procedures; follow their instructions at all times.
A separate liability release may be required at check-in.
Section 7
Limitation of liability.
Alaska Steelhead Co., its owners, guides, and staff are not liable for personal injury, illness, death, or loss or damage to personal property, except where caused by our gross negligence or willful misconduct.
Guests are responsible for any damage they cause to lodge property, vehicles, boats, or equipment through negligence or misuse.
Section 8
Photos & likeness.
We occasionally photograph guests on the water and around the lodge for our own promotional use (this site, social media, printed materials). We will always ask before posting an identifiable portrait, and we will never sell photographs to third parties.
If you'd prefer we not photograph you, let us know when you arrive and we'll honor that for the duration of your stay.
Section 9
Governing law.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Alaska. Any disputes arising from your booking or participation will be resolved in the appropriate courts of the State of Alaska.
Section 10
Changes to these terms.
We may update these terms over time. Updates apply to bookings confirmed after the update date shown at the top of this page. Existing confirmed bookings remain governed by the terms in effect at the time the deposit was accepted.
Section 11
