Good to know
Arrival. Fly into Anchorage, then book your Kenai leg with Grant Aviation or Aleutian Airways (~$145, 20-minute flight). An Alaska Steelhead Co. host meets you at the Kenai airport for a scenic 45-minute drive to the lodge.
Day 1 — Optional early arrival. Fly in a day early if you want to see Anchorage, visit friends, or split up the travel. Take an early next-morning flight to Kenai and get a full or half-day of fishing in on arrival.
Day 2 — Standard arrival. Be in Kenai by 5pm. Appetizers 4:30pm, dinner 6:30pm. Check-in 3pm (earlier if you've booked a guided arrival day).
Days 3–7. Five full days of guided fishing, relaxation, and local Alaskan cuisine. The itinerary varies with weather, ability, and fishing conditions.
Day 8 — Departure. Breakfast, then your host drives you back to the Kenai airport. Check-out 9am. Arrange an afternoon or evening flight out of Anchorage if you want a half or full day of fishing before transfer.
The Kenai Peninsula offers far more than fishing. Bring a partner or family member who wants to experience Alaska without a rod. We'll provide a vehicle and a host (when available) to accompany them.
Most steelhead destinations can be unfishable after heavy rain — blown-out, muddy rivers with nowhere to turn. Our core river can't.
It's glacial-fed from an icefield and lake with little to no tributaries along its short path to Cook Inlet. Heavy rain has only mild effects. We call this Ironclad Steelhead Insurance — an anomaly in the steelhead world we're proud to offer.
